This green building is located at Xinyi District in
Taipei and it is of course on our top 3 list of places to visit. The building
is obviously not difficult to find as it is the tallest green building in the
area.
We went to the Taipei 101 Observatory at around 7:30 PM
and the place was so packed with tourists that time.
Getting inside the building, we then proceeded to the 5th
Floor where the Taipei 101 Mall is located. There are designer brand shops,
food court and restaurants in the area where you can visit before or after
going to the observatory.
I bought our tickets online via Klook which cost me only
P862 per person (prices may vary depending on demand) and we just claimed our
actual tickets on the observatory counter. Tickets sold their cost around
NTD600 or P1,043 so I highly suggest buying it online.
To get to the indoor observatory which is located at the
89th floor, we took their high-speed elevator. Trivia: Taipei 101’s
elevator used to be the world’s fastest elevator travelling at 1,010 meters/min
(60.6kph). It took us only 37 seconds to reach the 89th floor!
A full view of Taipei can be seen inside the observatory
deck. There’s also a museum inside showcasing the design process and
construction of the building and other similar large-scale construction.
Moving up the 91st floor via stairs is the
outdoor observatory, we loved this place but just be careful as it is very
windy. There’s also a small theater on the same floor which plays films about
the construction and the annual New Year’s fireworks display.
We then went down the 88th floor which is also
packed with tourists wanting to see the building’s huge wind damper which helps
the building stand upright. There is also a collection of beautiful jewelries
in the same floor.
Taipei 101 Observatory is open every day from 9AM to 10PM.
